Debra Richards

Executive Director, ASTRA

Debra Richards is the Executive Director of the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA), the industry association for subscription television.

Richards spent over 13 years with the broadcasting regulator, the Australian Broadcasting Authority and previously the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal. She was Director of Program Services responsible for the content areas of research, children's television, Australian content on commercial television and pay TV, administration of the anti-siphoning provisions, codes, conditions and complaints and for the allocation and licensing of all categories of broadcast services.

She was also Communications (Broadcasting) Adviser to Michael Lee, a previous Minister for Communications and the Arts from November 1994 to March 1996. She has been with ASTRA since 1998.
