Prior to Fairfax, Pippa worked for five years at ninemsn - the Australian joint venture between MSN and PBL. She began her career working for Microsoft as the Restaurants Producer for Sidewalk and became the Business Manager for Lifestyle when the joint venture with PBL was entered and ninemsn was born. During her time as Business Manager for the Lifestyle section she oversaw the creation of 12 TV and magazine websites. She then became responsible for the E-Commerce areas of ninemsn, undertaking a total redesign of ninemsn's shopping site. In her final year she became responsible for all the Microsoft communication services within ninemsn including Hotmail, Instant Messenger, Search and Community.

Prior to ninemsn Pippa was a freelance journalist with her work appearing in Not Only Black and White, Studio for Men, The Australian and 21*C. She has also lectured and tutored at both Sydney University and the University of New South Wales.

Pippa has an Honours Degree in History (First Class and Medal) from the University of Sydney.
