Peter Nissen

National Broadband Adviser for Education

Peter's current role is part of the Australian Government's National Broadband Strategy Action Plan. He is a member of the National Broadband Strategy Implementation Group (NBSIG).

Peter was a consultant to the Higher Education Bandwidth Advisory Committee and subsequently the Australian Research and Education Network Advisory Committee during which time he worked for CAUDIT (Council of Australian University Directors of Information Technology).

Prior to 2002, Peter was the Director, Information Technology Services at The University of Adelaide for fifteen years during which time he was a member of the AARNet Board of Management and foundation chair of the AARNet Advisory Committee.

He is a Director of the Australian Domain Authority (auDA) and a former Director of education.au.

Prior to entering the education sector, he worked for a range of public and private sector companies in Australia, UK, Sweden and the US in tele-communications, IT consulting, defence, transportation planning and mining.
