Andrew Johnson

Managing Director, Data & Online, Telstra

Andrew Johnson is Managing Director of Data & Online. In this role he has responsibility for the development and lifecycle management of Telstra's integrated services and platforms for Online services, both fixed and wireless, Data, Transmission, BigPond ISP, Broadcast Media, Foxtel, Hosting and Managed Services, and Broadband Access.

MD Data & Online, is the third role Andrew has filled since joining Telstra in 2001. His initial task was to lead the establishment of Hosting & Internet, a group responsible for the management of Telstra's IT infrastructure together with development and support responsibilities for Big Pond, Foxtel, Hosting, Network and IT Architecture, Project Management Services and a diverse collection of application areas. Following this he was responsible for managing the establishment of Online Solutions Group, created within the then Retail organization with staff from both Big Pond and H&I, to define and deliver Telstra's first common online technology platform.

Before joining Telstra Andrew spent five years as CEO of Tenix Defence Systems and prior to that was at Computer Sciences Corporation for fourteen years working in both the US and Australia, with the last eight years being spent as Director of the Defence & Communications Division operating in Australia and New Zealand.

Andrew has a Masters in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Commerce. He is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and in 2003 was awarded the Centenary Medal from the Commonwealth of Australia.
