Geof Heydon

Director, Innovation & Market Development, Alcatel Australasia

Geof joined Alcatel in 1994, bringing with him over two decades of telecommunications experience.  During this time he has held a number of senior positions, including responsibility for broadband applications and content across Alcatel's Asia Pacific region.  In addition, Geof has played a key role in growing Alcatel's Australian broadband access business to represent in excess of 90 per cent of the local market.

Geof is an industry expert on future fixed and mobile services and a central member of Alcatel's fibre to the premises (FTTP) team locally.  He is a regular commentator at industry and government broadband events, speaking on its likely social economic impact on Australian life.

Prior to joining Alcatel, Geof spent eleven years at AWA followed by eight years at GC Marconi Telecommunications, now known as GC Plessy, as an engineer developing Telstra's Data Network.

Geof holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney.
