Deena Shiff

Group Managing Director, Small to Medium Enterprises, Telstra

In November 2001, Deena was appointed Managing Director of Telstra Wholesale. From January 1998 to November 2001, Deena was Director of Regulatory.

In 1998, Deena rejoined Telstra after being a partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques in their Corporate Advisory section. Her previous time with Telstra (from 1989 to 1994) commenced with OTC and continued with Telstra's International, Corporate & Government and Enterprises business units.

Since 1995, Deena has been a Director of the NSW Government-owned rail operator, FreightCorp, which is presently being prepared for sale. Deena is also a director on the Board of the Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF); Australian Council for Infrastructure Development and the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman.

Deena first qualified as a barrister in the UK and, as well as her career in telecommunications, she has worked for the Australian Law Reform Commission and as a senior departmental adviser on social policy issues in Canberra.

Deena has a degree from the London School of Economics and a law degree from the University of Cambridge.
