Malcolm Long

Chairman, National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Director, Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group


Malcolm Long has had a wide ranging career in broadcasting, communications and the Australian screen industries, including as a consultant in media and digital communications. He was Managing Director of SBS Corporation from 1993 - 98 where he established the production house SBS Independent and the World Movies subscription TV channel. He has been Deputy Managing Director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and prior to that Director of ABC Radio. Internationally, he is a past Chairman of the London-based International Institute of Communications.

Malcolm speaks and writes regularly on media, communications technology and screen industry issues. He is a part-time Member of the Australian Communications and Media Authority.
