Peter Darling

Principal, Pondarosa Communications & Senior Researcher, Network Insight

Peter has had wide experience in telecommunica­tions network planning, and in the area of techni­cal regula­tion.  His career has covered standards at the national and international level, including the ITU, ETSI and (more recently) the IETF.

He was the founding Chair of the Australian Communica­tion Industry Forum Network Reference Panel, develop­ing standards for the interconnection of networks in a multi-network environment.

Until his re­tirement from Telstra in May 2000 he led Telstra's work on technical regulation Since that time he has worked as Principal of Pondarosa Communications Pty Ltd, on projects for the ACA, ACIF, Multimedia Victoria, DCITA and the Productivity Commission.

For the last two years he has been managing ACIF's Next Generation Network Project, working across the industry on the supplier, service provider, end-user, policy and regulatory implications of the move to Internet Protocol  based networks.
